Flavoured Cupcake Recipe
In this example we will be using Capella Vanilla custard Version 1 in our recipe to create Vanilla flavoured cupcakes. Feel free to copy our recipe exactly or swap out the Vanilla Custard concentrate for a flavour of your choice from our shop. Please remember different flavours can be used at different amounts, please experiment in small batches to find the level of flavouring that best meets your personal tastes and needs.
Cake Ingredients Needed
Dry Ingredients:

- 190g plain flour
- 150g caster sugar
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
Wet Ingredients:

- 120g unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 large eggs
- 120ml whole milk

Capella Vanilla Custard flavour concentrate: 1.5–2.5 ml
(equivalent to approx. 0.8%–1.2% of batter, increase to taste if needed.)

Cake Instructions

- Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) and line a cupcake tray.
- Mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a bowl.
- In a separate bowl, cream butter until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Add milk and Capella Vanilla Custard concentrate and mix until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry mixes gently—avoid overmixing.
- Fill cupcake cases two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean.
- Cool completely before decorating.
Buttercream Ingredients Needed

- 250g unsalted butter (soft)
- 350g icing sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk
- Capella Vanilla Custard flavour concentrate: 0.5–1 ml

Buttercream Instructions

- Beat butter until pale and fluffy.
- Add icing sugar gradually.
- Add milk to reach smooth piping consistency.
- Add flavour concentrate and beat until fully combined.
Tips for Best Results
Start low—add more flavour if needed
Capella is mild, but frosting can intensify flavours.
Optional enhancements
- Add a drop of Capella Vanilla Bean Ice Cream for richer custard notes
- Add a pinch of nutmeg for bakery warmth
